A pretty darn awesome first clip has landed from Jose Padilha’s controversial reboot of the future of law-enforcement. Paul Verhoeven’s ultraviolet 1987 classic sci-fi thriller gets a major overhaul in terms of key plot details and characters with a number of beloved characters either changed in name, sex or completely missing. Still, you have to hand it to THE ELITE SQUAD director for wanting to do it his own way. Check out Murphy’s first field test!
In RoboCop, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.
ROBOCOP stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Jay Baruchel, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley, Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Michael Kenneth Williams. It hits cinemas 7th February 7th.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
