It might be a genre that no longer brings in the big-bucks in the classic bygone era of the 1940-70s but Walt Disney Pictures will have their fingers crossed that THE LONE RANGER can break the mould. The re-imagining of the classic radio serial-turned-television favourite has Armie Hammer as the masked vigilante lawman John Reid, on a quest for justice alongside Johnny Depp’s Native American sidekick Tonto and trusty steed Silver.
The western adventure, which includes an impressive supporting cast of Barry Pepper, William Fichtner, Tom Wilkinson, Ruth Wilson and Helena Bonham Carter, really does look a blast. Whether it can make back its reported $280 million budget remains to be seen. Meanwhile, why not check out this action-packed new banner for the film hitting US cinemas 3rd July and the UK 9th August. Gore Verbinski directs.
We’ve also included the French poster of a similar design featured a week or so ago.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
