Joel Edgerton To Commit A ‘Felony’

The Solution Entertainment Group has just announced new project FELONY, written and starring Aussie actor Joel Edgerton. More familiar for his Hollywood roles in WARRIOR and THE THING, Edgerton is an established writer and producer in his own right. He collaborated on the brilliant 2008 Australian feature THE SQUARE, with his director brother Nash, writing, starring and producing the Award-winning, edge-of-your-seat thriller. Sadly that feature still has yet to be released here in the UK, however if you are able to catch it make sure you do – it’s a superb piece of cinema!

FELONY will see Edgerton star as a highly decorated cop, who after celebrating with colleagues on cracking a major case, kills a child in a road accident. A split second decision has significant repercussions for friends, family and himself when he lies in a statement to the authorities.

Sounds powerful stuff! Much like his aforementioned THE SQUARE. It appears the actor has a penchant for flawed, but well-meaning characters making disastrous decisions. FELON is set to be directed by fellow Aussie Matthew Saville. Before we see him in FELONY, Edgerton has significant roles in Baz Luhrman’s THE GREAT GASBY, THE ODD LIFE OF TIMOTHY GREEN and Kathryn Bigalow’s bin Laden pic ZERO DARK THIRTY.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
