A live-action He-Man/ Masters of the Universe film is now officially in development for a release date in 2026, so reports Variety. The film will be directed by Travis Knight and scripted by Chris Butler with initial drafts written by David Callaham and Aaron and Adam Nee.
Based on the popular Mattel range of toys and the following animated series of the 1980s, the film is set up over at Amazon MGM Studios.
The film introduces a 10-year-old Prince Adam, who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword — the only link to his home on Eternia.
It was turned into a cult action film with Dolph Lundgren in 1987 and a new live action movie has been rumoured for years. Well, now it looks like it is finally happening.
Casting on the movie will begin soon, so reports the trade.
