The film has not opened in its home territory yet, but execs at Disney and Marvel are already popping open the champagne as AVENGERS ASSEMBLE has already managed to take a huge $178.4 million around the globe, including the UK, where it is being reported to have taken $24.7 million, a huge opening, and easily the biggest opener of the year.
According to Deadline, the film has made the following hauls over 5 days; ‘Australia $19.7M, Mexico $15.9M, Korea $12.9M, France $12.7M, Brazil $11.3M, Italy $10.4M, Taiwan $7.7M, Spain $7.3M, Germany $6.7M, Philippines $6.5M, and Hong Kong $4.6M.’
All eyes will now be on North America where the film is expected to be amongst the biggest openers of all time come Friday 4th May, a key date in the film calendar. The word is that the film has been selling out pre-sale screenings weeks in advance…
