QUANTUM OF SOLACE and the upcoming WORLD WAR Z helmer Marc Forster is all set to direct THE WAR MAGICIAN, a film set during World War II for Lonetree Entertainment. The film, according to trade newspaper Variety, ‘tells the true story of British magician Jasper Maskelyne, who adapted the core principles of stage magic to warfare in ways that defied the imagination: Among his achievements, Maskelyne hid the port of Alexandria Harbor, made the Suez Canal disappear and tricked Germany’s Gen.’
Forster is a busy boy. He is still hard at work on the Brad Pitt zombie far that hits this Christmas, and also has a remake of the TV show THE EQUALIZER to contend with. ‘Magician’ was at one time in the hands of Tom Cruise, according to the trade, with the VANILLA SKY actor set to star in and produce. The project now has a home at Lonetree after Cruise’s option on the rights ran out.
