We are hearing late on this Friday evening that THE HOBBIT has greenlit! The word is not 100% official as yet, but both The Wrap and The Los Angeles Times say that the film has recieved the green light by the studio AND that Peter Jackson IS on board as director.
Now, there is a bit of a labour dispute going on between actors and producers over in New Zealand, so we assume that this has to be resolved before it is a 100% goer, but boy this is exciting news!
The word is that the project, which will eventually be split into two films, will start shooting in February with part one due in cinemas on December 19th, 2012. The second is expected at the end of 2013.
More news as we get it folks!
