The Japanese teaser for STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS has popped up and has an extra few seconds that could prove very important…
By now, you’ll probably have seen the new teaser that beamed up this morning, hopefully with us at THN. If not, have a butchers here.
HOWEVER, the Japanese version has an additional few seconds at the end with more Cumberbatch narration and, vitally, a shot that is reminiscent of the dénouement from WRATH OF KHAN. There’s been TONS of speculation about whether Bendydick is playing the legendary sci-fi villain, being STAR TREK 2 and all. So this new shot will add fuel to the fire. Does it imply that Spock will sacrifice himself at the end a la WoK, (Wrath of Khan, that stood for Wrath of Khan. What a waste of time that was) or is it a red herring, a mere homage thrown in to add to the excitement? JJ Abrams does give good tease. Enjoy.
STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS is directed by JJ Abrams and stars Chris Pine, Zachery Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho, Anton Yelchin and Simon Pegg all returning as the crew of The Enterprise with new-comers Alice Eve, Noel Clarke and of course, Benedict Cumberbatch.
It will be transporting into UK and US cinemas 17th May 2013.
