Fans of those mutant superheroes the X-MEN, will be overjoyed to hear a sequel to the pretty darn great X-MEN: FIRST CLASS is set to roll before cameras in January next year. Matthew Vaughn’s terrific prequel to the Marvel franchise, first brought to the screen by Bryan Singer, saw the series brought back from the brink, after Brett Ratner’s dire X-MEN: THE LAST STAND and Gavin Hood’s even worse; X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE.
Vaughn will once again return as director, along with James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender to give us 1960s-set mutant mayhem involving Professor Charles Xavier and Eric Lehnsherr (aka Magneto). Also expected to return are Rose Byrne, January Jones, Nicholas Hoult, Caleb Landry Jones, Lucas Till and Jennifer Lawrence, who no longer has a conflicting project as THE HUNGER GAMES sequel CATCHING FIRE shoots in August.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
