There may be a big superhero film in Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice opening in cinemas this month, a movie that officially kicks off the 2016 blockbuster season, but my thoughts are firmly focussed on Marvel’s first offering of 2016 in Captain America: Civil War. We saw a lot of character posters debut online yesterday afternoon. and we’ll be expecting more for #TeamStark later this week, but we’re hearing that the film has an official running time, and its Marvel’s longest yet.
‘Civil War’ is expected to clock in at just under two and a half hours, but the big news is that the movie will also feature a whopping 15 minute IMAX action sequence. Speaking to ScreenRant, Anthony Mackie, one of the stars of the movie, revealed the awesome news. Here’s what he had to say.
This whole sequence is in IMAX, it’s about a 15-minute sequence. It’s the only one that we’re doing on the camera. The camera literally just rolled off the press like a week before we started using it. It’s an IMAX 65, so it’s the ARRI’s 65. It’s a join camera between ARRI’s and IMAX. We’re going to shoot all of Infinity War on those cameras.
Wow. Captain America: Civil War will enter cinemas in the UK from April 29th, 2016, and we’re already in line. One that one’s out and in cinemas, Joe and Anthony Russo will start work on the next two Avengers movies, two films that will become the first Hollywood movies to be entirely shot on the new IMAX cameras.
