His new film The Neon Demon hits cinemas in the UK next week, and Nicolas Winding Refn is on the road promoting the movie, which he’s been doing pretty much since the film’s debut at the Cannes Film Festival back in May. The visionary director caught up with The Business Insider who managed to get a pretty good news bite from the Danish director. They asked him if he would be up for making a big Hollywood movie – specifically a superhero film.
“God, I would love to make one, it would probably be great fun. I just don’t know when it’s going to happen. I very much enjoy my freedom creatively, but I also would love to make one of those big Hollywood films that costs a lot of money and has a lot of people running around with cell phones and all that insanity”.
He was asked which one specifically, to which he pondered,“what ones are left?” He then added, “you know the one I want to do? I want to make Batgirl. Let’s get Warner working on it”.
We’d pay good money to see that.
The Neon Demon opens in UK cinemas on Friday 8th July.
