Taron Egerton is one of the hottest rising stars at the moment, and he appears in the brilliant Eddie The Eagle, playing the title character, which finally starts to roll into U.K. cinemas from next Monday. Over the past couple of weeks, Egerton, who is about to start filming Kingsman 2, has been linked to the roll of a young Han Solo in the planned Phil Lord and Chris Miller stand alone Star Wars movie, which is due in 2018.
At the weekend, while doing press for Eddie The Eagle, Egerton appeared on The Jonathan Ross Show, and had the following to say about those Han Solo rumours.
“I’ve heard this rumor, yes. I mean, I’ve seen the stuff on the Internet, and I think any lad of my age would kill to play a part like that. It’s very, very flattering. I have no idea if there’s any truth in it, but I mean, Lucasfilm, Disney, if there is, then you know where I am.”
Ross then pushed some more and asked if Lucasfilm had indeed be in touch. “No, they’ve not,” was his simple reply.
So, that puts it to bed for the moment, but expect some casting news to happen soon as the film will have to start rolling towards the end of the year. We’ll keep you posted.
