Marvel Confirms ‘Daredevil’ Will Return For Second Series

Like many others, I’ve been enjoying the fantastic Daredevil and was under the impression that sadly this was a one-off series. Given that Marvel and Netflix had previously announced their plans to also release A.K.A. Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist before teaming them up for a Defenders miniseries, this seemed like a fair assumption. It came as a very welcome surprise then when the pairing took to Twitter to announce Marvel’s Daredevil would be returning for a second series next year.

Whilst many of the cast, including Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson, are set to return, there are changes behind the scenes. Doug Petrie (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, American Horror Story) and Marco Ramirez (Sons Of Anarchy, Orange Is The New Black) are set to take over from Stephen S. DeKnight as showrunners, both of whom were involved in writing the first series. Jeph Loeb is set to return as Executive Producer, alongside Drew Goddard. DeKnight explained in a statement:

‘While previous commitments unfortunately prevent me from continuing on with Daredevil into its second season, I could not be happier that Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez are carrying the torch. They were invaluable collaborators during our first season, and I for one can’t wait to see what they do with the show moving forward.’

With A.K.A. Jessica Jones due later this year and no release date currently confirmed for either show, we’d expect Daredevil to return sometime next April. We’ll keep you posted!
