THE AVENGERS’ Mark Ruffalo recently spoke with Digital Spy about the possibility of a stand-alone HULK movie. THE INCREDIBLE HULK was the second film from Marvel, but after star Edward Norton was not asked to return for THE AVENGERS, it seemed as though the big green guy would be a supporting character only. However, Ruffalo’s performance and Joss Whedon’s excellent handling of the character made The Hulk the star of the film and now it seems as though people are more interested than ever in another solo outing. When asked if Marvel were considering a solo film, Ruffalo responded:
I think they are, for the first time, entertaining the idea of it. When we did ‘The Avengers’ it was basically ‘No!’, and now there is some consideration for it. But there’s still nothing definitive, not even a skeletal version of what it would be. I look forward to going down that road, if we could crack that nut.
Although this is nothing definite, and Marvel may just be dangling that carrot to keep Ruffalo on board, it’s still an exciting prospect. I’m one of the few lovers of Ang Lee’s 2005 adaptation of the comic character and love THE INCREDIBLE HULK too, but I can see how he isn’t as appealing as a star of a film. Personally, I’d love to see one of the epic storylines such as ‘Planet Hulk’ or ‘World War Hulk’, but those might be budget overload.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.

Really? Again? When will they learn, I mean isn’t it obvious that a stand-alone Hulk movie just doesn’t work?
