Star Wars Cast Announced!!

Star Wars Episode VII CastFINALLY! The cast for the upcoming STAR WARS EPISODE VII has been revealed, confirming rumours and specualtion as well as throwing in a few surprises. The original cast of Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker, will all return to the roles they made famous in the original trilogy, while the new guys show a broad range of talent. ATTACK THE BLOCK’s John Boyega and relative newcomer Daisy Ridley join the cast representing the UK. Adam Driver, who was pretty much already confirmed in a villain role has been announced, along with INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS’s Oscar Isaac. Domhnall Glesson, who was at one time in the running for Dr. Doom in FANTASTIC FOUR, is also cast, as well as cinematic legend, 85 year old Max Von Sydow. In a surprising turn of events, Ahmed Best is also confirmed as returning to the role of the much loved Jarjar Binks…THAT WAS A JOKE!!! Although Andy Serkis IS cast as well, so maybe he can take the character and add a little more depth…I’m just assuming he’s going to be doing motion capture because I stereotype people.

Still no word on roles for the new guys, but I’m going to guess Boyega and Ridley as Jedis with Driver and Sydow as Sith. Sydow is the actor I’m most excited for, as he has done some incredible work over the years, and I’m always surprised to see him still going as I forget he was deceptively young during THE EXORCIST.

Here’s the official announcement just to clarify that Jarjar has not been confirmed:

The Star Wars team is thrilled to announce the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII.

Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film.

Director J.J. Abrams says, “We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud.

Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer. The movie opens worldwide on December 18, 2015.

This is all very exciting and makes me feel like a kid again, until I realise that the film will premiere just ebfore my 30th birthday. Maybe I’ll hate it the same way fans of the original did the prequel.

STAR WARS EPISODE VII is released on 18th December 2015 and stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker.
