DC Plans Ahead With Nine New Movies Announcement

Sandman

Having announced serious competition to THE AVENGERS with Zack Syder’s JUSTICE LEAGUE, DC are to ramp up the hero factor with nine movies in development at Warner Bros for a cinematic counter strike. Reports so far have named four of the pitched properties – Shazam (the wizard who ironically is the mentor to Captain Marvel), Metal Men (the saga about artificial intelligence), 100 Bullets (pulp noir) and Fables (about fantasy creatures living in our modern day).

The other slots seem to be up for grabs, but the juiciest option is surely Neil Gaiman’s Sandman, to be directed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The prospect of one of the hippest names in Hollywood helming work by the UK’s perennial fantasy writer should yield some exciting results.

The next few years are looking to be rather crowded in terms of comic book fare, but with two iconic and distinctive brands gearing up to go head to head, it will be fascinating to see which camp will draw the first blood at the multiplex.

You obviously have no idea whatsoever who Shazam is. Do a little research next time and your article won’t seem like such a joke

Okay… Shazam IS captain marvel. They aren’t making a movie about a wizard. If you knew the first thing about dc you’d know that

This isn’t exactly direct competition for The Avengers as these movies don’t have anything to do with setting up a connected cinematic universe of characters. These are unrelated projects.
