Matt Damon Wanted For Aquaman In ‘Justice League’?

Matt Damon

Everything’s coming up DC at the moment, with the official announcement of a JUSTICE LEAGUE film in the hands of Zack Snyder due to arrive in 2017, and reports of Cyborg and Aquaman both potentially showing up in the currently untitled MAN OF STEEL sequel BATMAN VS SUPERMAN.

Just yesterday we brought you news that CONAN THE BARBARIAN actor Jason Momoa had been tapped to play the role of Aquaman, but now word has emerged that veteran actor Matt Damon is also being sought for the role. You can probably chalk this one up as nonsense but nevertheless, The Wrap claims that word has been floating around Hollywood for almost a year that Damon is being sought for the role.

Still, the site itself admits Momoa will appear in BATMAN VS SUPERMAN in some capacity, whether that’s as Aquaman or someone else entirely. Having Matt Damon alongside Ben Affleck would possibly be a little too much star power for an ensemble film to handle, with the duo potentially taking the spotlight away from the rest of the JLA, so here’s hoping Snyder and co. stick with Momoa for this one. Besides, braver casting choices are always more interesting. Don’t play it safe, Warner Bros.

JUSTICE LEAGUE is rumoured to open in 2017. BATMAN VS SUPERMAN opens first in 2016, and stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Holly Hunter, Laurence Fishburne, Harry Lennix, Ray Fisher, Callan Mulvey, Tao Okamoto, Gal Gadot and Jessie Eisenberg.
