We managed to bag a couple of seats at ‘A Conversation With John Travolta’ in London a couple of weeks back, who revealed that he was considering starring in a western, something that he hadn’t managed to do in his career up until this point (URBAN COWBOY aside). Well now that project has been revealed as being Ti West’s IN A VALLEY OF VIOLENCE opposite Ethan Hawke. The film is produced by Jason Blum, who team with Hawke in the low-budget, but high-grossing THE PURGE last year.
The Hollywood Reporter says that the film is ‘described as a revenge Western film set in the 1890s.’ That’s all they, and we know plot wise at this point, but considering both West, who also wrote the movie, and Blum’s past-history of cinematic efforts, you can bet that there will be a horror element to this, a genre that Travolta hasn’t touched since Brian De Palma’s CARRIE. Shooting kicks off later in the year.
