It’s already been nominated and/or won a host of prestigious awards, something quite remarkable for an indie genre flick, but anticipation continues for the release of director Caradog James’ British sci-fi thriller THE MACHINE. THE PACT’s rising stunner Caity Lotz dons the skintight lycra to portray a government-created killing machine named Ava. An emotionless and highly-skilled cyborg officially known as an “artificial intelligence expert” in a near future existence.
The first trailer, which arrived late last year, looked absolutely awesome and visually stylish, with the film co-starring Toby Stephens and Denis Lawson, centred on two computer programmers who fall in love as they create the first ever piece of self-aware artificial intelligence, which is designed to help humanity. However, things go wrong when the Ministry of Defence steal their breakthrough and teach it to become a robotic weapon.
THE MACHINE is stills awaiting official release dates.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
