Matthew McConaughey is gaining incredible rave reviews for his lead role in fact-based drama DALLAS BUYERS CLUB. The KILLER JOE actor portrays real-life Texas electrician Ron Woodroof, an ordinary man who found himself in a life-or-death battle following a shock HIV diagnosis from doctors who claimed he had 30 days to live in 1985.
His desperation in getting hold of medications still restricted in the US and a country still divided over how to combat the virus, Ron procured non-toxic alternative treatments from all over the world through both legal and illegal means. To avoid government sanctions against selling non-approved medicines and supplements, Ron established a “buyers club” for fellow HIV-positive people, giving them access to his life-saving supplies.
We’ve the brand new UK trailer from the film directed by Jean-Marc Vallée.
DALLAS BUYERS CLUB co-stars Jared Leto, Jennifer Garner, Denis O’Hare and Steve Zahn. It arrives in the US on 1st November and the UK 7th February 2014.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
