Despite not having opened on domestic soil yet, and by domestic soil I mean the massive north American market, THOR 2: THE DARK WORLD has managed to accumulate a massive $110 million in worldwide ticket sales. In three days. The film has garnered some pretty average reviews, including right here at THN with our official review by Ellen Daniels bagging an okay-to-good three stars.
The film’s take is actually around an estimated $109.4 million from 36 markets, including the UK ($13.4 million), France ($9.4 million), Mexico ($8.2 million), Brazil ($8.1 million), Germany ($7.9 million), Russia ($7.8 million), Korea ($7.6 million), Australia ($6.9 million) and the Philippines ($4.7 million).
THOR: THE DARK WORLD will open in the US on the 8th November with the folks at Disney hoping that the film will wallop the original film’s opening weekend of around $65 million back in 2011. Whatever happens, the sequel will be considered a hit in the studio’s eyes after that mammoth international performance.
