Kimberly Pierce’s CARRIE remake was unleashed in theatres in the US this weekend and is amazingly the only main genre release for the month of October. Ridiculously, we in the UK must wait until the 29th November, despite this Halloween being rather meagre on the big-screen horror front. Unfortunately, the Sony and Screen Gems contemporary remake of Stephen King’s famed novel, previously adapted by Brian DePalma to great acclaim, is receiving some negative reviews. Most are suggesting Pierce’s pic, led by Chloe Grace Moretz, lacks an emotional “spark”. If so, thats a shame as I held out hope for something fiery!
Check out this this superb new poster giving us a peek of CARRIE’s telekinetic abilities.
CARRIE co-stars Judy Greer, Portia Doubleday, Alex Russell, Gabriella Wilde, Ansel Elgort and Julianne Moore as the devoutly religious Margaret White.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
