He’s currently shooting Brett Ratner’s epic HERCULES: THE THRACIAN WARS, which he has been working on since the middle of May, but it seems that Dwayne Johnson is already lining up his next projects. Announced today were plans to bring a new big-budget disaster blockbuster to screens in the packed summer of 2015, with Johnson headlining and his JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND director Brad Peyton helming.
The film is being described as revolving around an earthquake, and will be titled SAN ANDREAS, based on an original screenplay by Andre Fabrizio and Jeremy Passmore, with a recent rewrite from THE CONJURING screenwriters Chad and Carey Hayes.
Trade paper The Hollywood Reporter says that “the script is set after a devastating earthquake hits California and centers on a man making a perilous trip across the state to rescue his estranged daughter. Johnson will play that man, described as a rugged rescue helicopter pilot.”
Shooting is set to begin in April 2014.
Johnson is also attached to a planned feature named LORE, based on legendary beasts from folklore, and an untitled TV movie revolving around Miami athletes.
HERCULES: THE THRACIAN WARS hits cinemas on the 25th July, 2014.
