After the news that Billy Bob Thornton will be the lead in the not so quite TV reboot of the 1996 film FARGO, it has been revealed that SHERLOCK’s Martin Freeman will be joining him in a co-starring role.
Freeman will be starring as Lester Nygaard, a small town businessman who’s life is turned upside down when a mysterious stranger named Lorne Malvo (Thornton) arrives to town. There will be a new storyline, but it has been revealed that Freeman’s role will have parallels to William H. Macy’s Jerry Lundegaard from the original movie.
FARGO is being developed as a limited series by FX, with Noah Hawley taking on writing duties for episode one. Adam Bernstein, known for directing TV shows such as BREAKING BAD and CALIFORNICATION will be directing. Joel and Ethan Coen will be producing the project.
So what are we thinking? Are you excited for the not quite reboot of FARGO? Let us know below…
