BEST MAN DOWN is the bittersweet directorial debut from writer Ted Koland. It sees the happiest day of Justin Long and Jess Weixler’s lives turn into a time for mourning when Long’s best man, Tyler Labine, gets drunk and dies at the wedding. It’s a simple hook which leads into a comedic drama that sees the recently married couple give up their honeymoon in order to track down the only person in Labine’s phone who isn’t Long or a pizza place.
Looking at friendship, marriage, and responsibility, this has the chance to be one of the year’s surprise hits, even if the dialogue does seem kind of generic at times. Fingers crossed for an independent gem.
BEST MAN DOWN is released 8th November in the US with a UK release date yet to be announced. It stars Justin Long, Tyler Labine, Jess Weixler, Addison Timlin, Frances O’Connor, and Shelley Long.
