Wes Anderson alumni Jason Schwartzman has joined the cast of Tim Burton’s fact-based drama BIG EYES. He’ll appear alongside the already onboard Christoph Waltz, Amy Adams and Krysten Ritter. The story follows artist couple Margaret (Adams) and Walter (Waltz) Keane. Walter became world famous during the late 1950s and early 60s for paintings of ‘saucer-eyed’ children. However, it was later discovered his wife was the one responsible for the acclaimed artwork. The film, which marks an interesting departure for the often fantastical Burton, will tell of their strained relationship which led to a divorce and a infamous court battle to prove Margaret’s authorship of the paintings.

Next we have news of a new name joining Ron Howard’s next film, IN THE HEART OF THE SEA. Cillian Murphy will feature as ‘second shipmate’ in the Oscar-winning director’s adaptation of the same-titled Nathaniel Philbrick novel which recounts the real life sea disaster of the whaleship Essex. The actual 1819 events inspired Herman Melville’s iconic obsession tale, ‘Moby Dick’.  Chris Hemsworth is expected to take the lead with Tom Holland (THE IMPOSSIBLE) and Benjamin Walker (ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER) also co-starring. Shooting is commence in London in September.
