FILM4 FRIGHTFEST 2013 – POSTER ARTWORK REVEALED

Top illustrator Graham Humphreys, who has been FrightFest’s poster designer since the very beginning in 2000, has revealed the primary artwork for FrightFest 2013.

Graham said today: “This year’s image plays with the skull of Yorick, in a parody of  Hamlet and all the attendant themes of revenge, murder, ghosts and  corruption. The death of celluloid is represented by the corpse in the director’s chair and the spools for brains. As it is the centennial year of Peter Cushing’s birth, his contribution to the genre is honoured with a bust and the passing of Ray Harryhausen is remembered with a glimpse of two of his creations”.

Film4 FrightFest, the UK’s biggest genre film festival, runs from Thursday 22 August to Monday 26 August at the Empire Cinema, Leicester Square. The full line up will be announced on 28 June.  Festival & day passes go on sale from 29 June. Tickets for Individual films are on sale from 27 July.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
