Magic Bullet Hits Blanchett As She Leads Mamet’s JFK Conspiracy ‘Blackbird’

Being that JFK is one of my all-time greatest films, any project revolving around the assassination of President John F. Kennedy is going to fascinate me. Add into the mix the involvement of the great playwright-turned-filmmaker David Mamet, and BLACKBIRD is now up there with MAN OF STEEL as one of my must-sees before a scene is shot.

Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett has now been officially confirmed to lead the nail-biting conspiracy thriller as a woman named Janet, who travels to Los Angeles for her grandfather’s funeral. Once there she discovers that his day job as a Hollywood visual effects artist hid a dark secret that he moonlighted as U.S. special ops agencies and may have been responsible for the notorious murder and cover-up of the beloved Commander-In-Cheif.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
