Michael Bay’s PAIN & GAIN is currently top of the US box-office chart with the director arguably receiving some of the best plaudits of his career which, for a change, aren’t coming from teenage boys. He’ll reunite with that film’s lead, Mark Wahlberg, for big-budget action sequel TRANSFORMERS 4 and we can now give you a brand new casting update regarding the major villain.
Television favourite Kelsey Grammer, best known for CHEERS, FRASIER and BOSS, has signed on for the role of Harold Attinger, a corrupt counter intelligence agent who is said to pose the biggest threat to the otherworldly alien race of perfectly-formed robots. No, Megan Fox isn’t in this one. However, Grammer will appear opposite the already cast Stanley Tucci, Jack Raylor and Bay’s up-skirt model this time around, Nicola Peltz.
Grammer’s biggest effort on the silver-screen was Brett Ratner’s comic-book sequel, X-MEN: THE LAST STAND as Dr. Hank McCoy (aka Beast). Fingers crossed TRANSFORMERS 4 can’t be that bad. Then again, as enjoyably dumb as the original was, the follow-ups seriously sucked.
TRANFORMERS 4 hits cinemas 27th June 2014.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
