Chernin Entertainment and Rupert Wyatt will pair up to produce and direct an adaptation Marisha Pessl’s soon-to-be-released novel, NIGHT FILM.
Pessl’s novel will not be available until August but the crutch of the story centres on an investigative journalist named Scott McGrath, who finds a beautiful and mysterious young women’s apparent suicide may have been an act of murder. He discovers she is the daughter of a reclusive, cult horror filmmaker named Stanislas Cordova, and the journalist finds himself on a vendetta for the truth.
The project is still in the early stages with still no writer or cast onboard but we expect this could have the same appeal to fans of THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO. With Wyatt departing the RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES sequel and THE EQUALIZER, could we finally see him back behind the camera with this, despite looking a year or two away?

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
