Jay Roach, the filmmaker that has brought us such movies as AUSTIN POWERS: INTERNATIONAL MAN OF MYSTERY and the MEET THE PARENTS series of films is to tackle a film based on the doping scandal that involved seven time Tour De France winner Lance Armstrong in 2012.
The film is the second film that will feature the subject matter after it was announced that Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot were to adapt Cycle Of Lies, a book by Juliet Macur. Warner Brothers will house the Roach feature, which will be scripted by CONTAGION and this weekend’s big UK opener SIDE EFFECTS writer Scott Z. Burns.
According to a source at Deadline, Roach and the WB have secured life rights to Armstrong’s racing partner Tyler Hamilton.
Armstrong hit the headlines last year when it was revealed that he was on performance enhancing drugs when competing in the sport. Naughty boy.
