NO is the simply titled but powerful and funny look at the vote to remove Chile’s dictator Augusto Pinochet. When the people of Chile are asked to vote ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ as to whether Pinochet should stay in power, an advertising executive, Rene Saavedra (Gael Garcia Bernal) decides to use advertising techniques to rally the people of Chile together. The film is obviously dealing with some serious issues, but the humour is also prevalent in this exciting trailer. It shows the power of advertising, and how it doesn’t just have to be used to sell us products, but also ideas. The film has obtained some great reviews from the festival circuit. So let’s see if it will be another ARGO.
NO is released 8th February 2013 in the UK and 15th February in the US. It stars Gael Garcia Bernal, Antonia Zegers, and Alfredo Castro.
