Guillermo Del Toro is easily in my top ten favourite movie directors working in Hollywood at the moment, and I was disappointed that he didn’t manage to get his mitts around THE HOBBIT, but still. Del Toro’s next film will be PACIFIC RIM, which will be released next year, but it seems that the helmer already has his next project lined up, a ghost story named CRIMSON PEAK.
Deadline report the news this morning that Del Toro will reteam with Legendary Pictures (they are collaborating on PACIFIC RIM) for ‘Peak,’ which is described as “a very set-oriented, classical but at the same time modern take on the ghost story. It will allow me to play with the conventions of the genre I know and love, and at the same time subvert the old rules.”
Del Toro wrote the script with regular collaborator Matthew Robbins. The word on the street is that production will start in early 2014, once work on PACIFIC RIM is completey finished and Del Toro has shot the pilot for planned TV series THE STRAIN, which is based on the popular vampire novel series.
