Although we recently brought you the mo-cap trailer of an entirely CGI’ed animated TARZAN effort starring TWILIGHT sleep-inducer Kellen Lutz, Warner Bros. are putting together another live-action film of their own, to feature the Edger Rice Burrough’s ‘King Of The Apes’. Now we have confirmation that four-time HARRY POTTER director David Yates is onboard to bring us a new take on the vine-swinging hero.
Warner and Yates have also lined up three actors who’ll be vying for the lead. Future MAN OF STEEL Henry Cavill, PACIFIC RIM and SONS OF ANARCHY actor Charlie Hunnam and Alexander Skarsgaard (last seen on the big-screen in the STRAW DOGS remake and the utter shite BATTLESHIP) will all screen test for the role. Warner’s are also looking at THE DARK KNIGHT RISES star Tom Hardy, who is currently shooting George Miller’s MAD MAX: FURY ROAD – although they aren’t sure the role will interest him.
We’ll keep you posted on any further developments.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
