It was a controversial decision to remake Park Chan Wook’s OLDBOY, but it also has the potential to be just as disturbing and powerful, especially with the talent involved. We now have a first look at Josh Brolin as the man who is locked away for 15 years without being told why. One day he is simply released, again with no explanation. His captor approaches him and gives him 5 days to discover why he was kidnapped and imprisoned in the first and if he does, his captor will kill himself. The South Korean original is an absolute classic and helped towards exploding the South Korean new wave overseas. Based on a Japanese comic by Garon Tsuchiya and Nobuaki Minegishi, the South Korean film took a different path, so perhaps this American remake will closer resemble the comic.
OLDBOY is released 2013. It stars Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olson, Sahrlto Copley, and Samuel L Jackson.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
