One of my current favourite forms of advertising (we’ve got a list) is the criminally underused motion poster. The have the ability to present sound and movement as well as capturing the feel of the film without giving away numerous plot details. The latest motion poster is for the sequel to SILENT HILL (2006), SILENT HILL REVELATION 3D. It shows the creepy image of Pyramid Head waltzing down a hallway of cages before slashing at us with his massive sword. The original SILENT HILL, based on genuinely terrifying video games of the same name, was an awful film that favoured visuals over actually making me poop myself. Despite my dislike of that film, I am somehow drawn to this sequel. The latest poster was pretty cool, and the trailer had some nice ideas in it. I guess it’s going to be a case of ‘Fool me twice…’
SILENT HILL: REVELATION 3D will be released 31st October 2012. It stars Sean Bean, Kit Harrington, Adelaide Clemens, Carrie-Anne Moss, Malcolm McDowell, and Deborah Kara Unger.
