Back in July we have you the teaser trailer and poster for the Paul Schrader directed THE CANYONS, and now we have a more interesting trailer that gives us some actual footage. THE CANYONS stars LindsayLohan, (usually behind the camera) Gus Van Sant, and adult film star James Deen, introduced in this new trailer as a ‘HUGE new talent’. The film is written by AMERICAN PSYCHO author Brett Easton Ellis, and focuses on the drug fueled lives of a group of twenty-somethings.
This new trailer takes on a grindhouse theme, with scratchy film filters placed over the footage, some 1970s retro music, and title cards that look ripped straight from a horror film. It adds a sense of intrigue, but with this and the previous trailer are they just trying to hide something by not showing us any dialogue? I certainly can’t get a feel for the actual tone, performances, or script. Let’s hope this will be a pleasant (or nasty in the right way) surprise.
THE CANYONS is to be released in 2013. It stars Lindsay Lohan, James Deen, Gus Van Sant, Nolan Gerard Funk and Amanda Brooks.
