New RoboCop Images Give Further Glimpse Of Suit & Face!

The Internet has been abuzz the last day or so after the first images of the new RoboCop surfaced. With the suit modified for the 21st Century (looking not unlike how an 8-year-old might re-imagine a future police robot man), it’s clear that José Padilha’s new ROBOCOP is trying to distance itself some way from the original. For starters, this updated version of Alex Murphy has one good hand on show (‘Lose the arm’), and his face will be much more visible than before, with a translucent visor ensuring that Murphy won’t need a massive drill to unmask and show off his gorgeous, corpse-like face.

It seems that this time around, RoboCop will be altogether more human, as hinted at in press releases that suggested the character ‘returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before‘. Hmmmmm. If you needed further proof of Robo’s human-esque qualities, here’s some new pictures of actor Joel Kinnaman with his visor decidedly up, and his face looking a lots less unsettling (i.e. dead) than Peter Weller in Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 original.

There’s also a picture of a futuristic-looking car, which could be driven by the RoboCop, or may just belong to his hairdresser.

Check it out!

ROBOCOP co-stars Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish, and Jackie Earle Haley. It arrives in cinemas 2013.
