Paul Thomas Anderson Looks Forward With ‘Inherent Vice’

With THE MASTER premiering in Venice recently, and a UK theatrical release two months away you’d think director/writer/legend Paul Thomas Anderson would be busy hyping the movie? Hell no, he’s occupied talking about his next project an adaptation of Thomas Pynchon’s INHERENT VICE.

First published in 2009, INHERENT VICE follows stoner private detective Larry ‘Doc’ Sportello whose life is sent into a tailspin by the appearance of an old girlfriend, Shasta Hay Hepworth, who gets him in all sort of strife. The 1969-1970 set story is rumoured to be looking at Robert Downey Jr. who would seem a perfect fit. As massive PTA fans the excitement at THN HQ has been building for THE MASTER but this news has sent us into overdrive. We’ll keep you posted on any developments, provided we can retain our composure.

Sam is a bloody lovely lad born and raised in Bristol (he’s still there and can’t escape). Favourite films include THE LOST BOYS, DRIVE, FIGHT CLUB and COMMANDO, well pretty much any 1980s Arnie film you can throw his way…even RED SONJA. Sam once cancelled a Total Film subscription after they slagged off Teen Wolf. He resubscribed 2 days later.
