Two New Images From The Hobbit

Whilst shopping for DVDs a few days back, I chanced upon a grown man in a well-known retailer wearing the ‘One Ring’ on a chain around his neck. I wanted to yank his ponytail and shake him vigorously by the scruff of his leather trench coat – ‘Lord of the Rings is rubbish,’ I almost screamed, ‘you need to forget about it and grow up!’ As I opened my mouth I caught sight of my own Hulkamania t-shirt and let it pass. Each their own, I suppose.

Besides, I’m only bitter because for three long years you couldn’t open a film magazine without being subjected to endless pictures, reports, and whatnot about Peter Jackson’s LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy. Mercifully, the run-up to THE HOBBIT has been less oppressive, and I can comfortably post these two new images from the movies without feeling too bad about myself.

It’s a bit like one of those before and after shots, only a motion capture version. Precious indeed.

THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY arrives in UK cinemas 14th December 2012, and THE HOBBIT: THERE AND BACK AGAIN 13th December 2013.

The effects used for Gollum in that first picture are abysmal.
