The score preview is always an interesting experience; you are listening to music from a film you are going to watch with no context in which to set it and, in my opinion, one of the great underrated filmic experiences. In the last few weeks we have given you a preview of Hans Zimmer’s THE DARK KNIGHT RISES score and today we have found a gem of a featurette on Nathan Johnson’s score for Rian Johnson’s upcoming LOOPER. Now, for those not particularly interested in seeing an orchestra give it some welly than you’ll love this as it would appear much of the composition has come about organically with Treadmill sounds, industrial fans and so forth all being used as the basis of a number of tracks. It really is a fascinating watch, particularly as Nathan’s eyebrows seem to move independently to the rest of his face. Check it and them out below:
LOOPER is released 28th September and stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis and Emily Blunt.

Sam is a bloody lovely lad born and raised in Bristol (he’s still there and can’t escape). Favourite films include THE LOST BOYS, DRIVE, FIGHT CLUB and COMMANDO, well pretty much any 1980s Arnie film you can throw his way…even RED SONJA. Sam once cancelled a Total Film subscription after they slagged off Teen Wolf. He resubscribed 2 days later.
