William Hurt Eyeing Role In Stephenie Meyer’s The Host

The always brilliant Oscar winning actor William Hurt is currently in negotiations to play a major role in the big-screen adaptation of the novel THE HOST by TWILIGHT author Stephenie Meyer. If a deal is struck, Hurt is expected to take the role of Jeb, the uncle of  the films main character Melanie Stryder and leader of the resistance fighting for survival against the alien onslaught that are able to inhabit the body and control their human victims.

The film has already cast THE LOVELY BONES’ Saoirse Ronan in the role of Melanie along with Max Irons (RED RIDING HOOD) and Jake Abel (I AM NUMBER FOUR) as the familiar Meyer love triangle characters,  Jared and Ian. THE HOST will be directed by IN TIME and GATTACA director Andrew Niccol and is due for a release early 2013.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
