Fraggle Rock Movie Rights Picked Up

Being a fan of Jim Henson’s FRAGGLE ROCK as a six year old, a big screen version would have seen me beg my parents for a visit to the local mutiplex. Coming twenty-five years too late for me, it appears those lovable furry critters are to finally get their own movie, possibly on the back of the upcoming MUPPETS relaunch.

Running from 1983 -1987 the series was a big hit for the legendary puppet creator Jim Henson. The movie rights have today been snapped up by production company New Regency, the company responsible for the ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS franchise.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
