There has been much speculation over the last two years about the shaky MISSION IMPOSSIBLE franchise with the studio’s faith in Tom Cruise slipping away every second.
It was thought that a second actor would be introduce to the forth film currently filming to possibly take over the series, retiring Cruise. It has now been announced that Jeremy Renner from THE HURT LOCKER and now Hawkeye in THE AVENGERS, will fit that role especially if there is a fifth MISSION IMPOSSIBLE.
Renner told MTV;
“It’s a franchise to potentially take over… I can’t predict the future and what they want, but that’s certainly the idea.”
It’s nothing new but it’s good to hear a confirmation but the real question now is if Renner is able to play the leading man in an action flick especially with the low level of charisma he has shown in the past.
Paul finished is BA in Film & Broadcast Productions during the summer and has somehow landed the position of Media & Marketing Manager in the London Korean Film Festival happening this November (plug). While at University Paul found his speciality lay in Script Development, scriptwriting and Editing. He has written, edited and director a small number of not very good short films but does not let that dissuade him from powering through. After the Koreans are through with him he looks to enter the paid world of Script Development. He likes incredibly bad horror films, East Asian movies, comics and lots of other stuff.
