Big name actor Adrien Brody has won a lawsuit against the makers of GIALLO. The massive lawsuit came about after Brody (KING KONG) claimed the film-makers only paid him $960,000 out of the $1.5million that had been agreed.
Further, he also stated that he was misled with regards to the value of the Italian distribution rights. By defeating Giallo Productions Ltd and Hannibal Pictures, Brody managed to curb distribution, marketing and selling of the film in the United States.
District judge Dale S. Fischer ruled that the companies were not allowed to use the actor’s image to promote the film unless he was paid the full amount owed – totaling over half a million US dollars.
A statement from Mr Brody said: ‘At no point did I ever wish to be involved in a legal dispute, but after over a year of attempting to resolve this matter I was left with no other alternative.
‘I am greatly appreciative of the court’s ruling which protects me, and shows support for all artists who have been manipulated and taken advantage of unscrupulous employers.’
GIALLO was met withnegative reviews when it premiered at the Edinburgh Film Festival in 2009.
