Quentin Tarantino is my choice for the best director award winner at this year’s Oscars. There I said it. It’s out there! But what next for the former video store clerk from LA. Well, after doing the crime, the WWII and the martial arts movie, it looks like the man may be heading west to write and direct… a Southern?
“I’d like to do a Western.”
“But rather than set it in Texas, have it in slavery times. With that subject that everybody is afraid to deal with. Let’s shine that light on ourselves.”
“You could do a ponderous history lesson of slaves escaping on the Underground Railroad. Or you could make a movie that would be exciting.
“Do it as an adventure. A spaghetti Western that takes place during that time. And I would call it a ‘Southern’.”
This I would love to see. Tarantino + western surely = box-office and critical success. What do you guys think? Inglourious Basterds is nominated for no less than eight Oscars including the aforementioned Best Director and Best Original Screenplay, also for Tarantino.
