Entertainment Weekly has provided us with our very first look at Black Manta in the forthcoming DCEU movie Aquaman. “He’s part mercenary but full-time pirate who in his suit will look like some crazy alien from outer space,” director James Wan said to the outlet. He’s also the arch nemesis of Aquaman, who is played in the movie by Jason Momoa. Take a look at this:

The role of Black Manta – aka David Kane – is played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the film, though Wan went on to explain that Black Manta isn’t the main villain of the piece though. That honour belongs to Patrick Wilson’s King Orm.
“Black Manta is a really interesting character who is somehow factored into this story but our main story is about Jason and Patrick,” Wan explained.
The cast of Aquaman also includes Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Temuera Morrison, Dolph Lundgren, and Nicole Kidman.
The film revolves around the titular character who finds himself caught between a surface world that ravages the sea and the underwater Atlanteans who are ready to revolt.
James Wan’s long-awaited film will be released this December.
