Expiation looms in first trailer for ‘The Mist’ TV series

Directed by Frank Darabont, and starring Thomas Jane and William SadlerThe Mist is one of our favourite cult classic films. Based on a novella by Stephen King, the film told the story of a sleepy Maine town that was overtaken by a mysterious mist. A small group of survivors barricade themselves within the walls of a supermarket, as they battled not only the weird creatures hiding inside the mist, but also each other. It’s a fantastic film that holds up to multiple viewings and is elevated by what is one of the darkest endings ever committed to film.

These days nothing can be left alone however, and it was announced last year that a TV series of The Mist was in the works. Now a trailer has landed and it appears that the series will expand out into the world outside that supermarket. Watch the trailer for yourself now:

Once again, it points to man being just as, if not more dangerous, than the beast lurking outside. It seems that, as with the film, religion will play a big part with a chapel serving as one of our locations. Is it just us, or is Frances Conroy looking set to become this version’s Mrs Carmody? She’s playing a character called Natalie Raven, but she doesn’t look far from saying that dreaded word – ‘expiation’. There’s also a soldier scrambling around in the mist and mention of Arrowhead, could we finally see that accident that caused it all?

The vibe thus far looks to be somewhere between Under the Dome and the good parts of Silent Hill. Hopefully it’ll manage to be better than both of them. There’s no word yet on a UK air date, but the show will air in America on Spike with the first episode premiering on 22nd June 2017.
