Casting news is coming thick and fast from Netflix’s Jessica Jones TV series, titled A.K.A Jessica Jones. Krysten Ritter is the lead, with Mike Colter as Luke Cage. David Tennant has been confirmed as villain Kilgrave. And now Australian actress Rachael Taylor completes the line up, taking the role of Trish Walker.
Walker is Jones’ best friend and certainly packs it in on the CV front – not only is she a talk radio host, she used to be a model and TV star. Oh, and she’s also known as costumed whup-ass merchant Hellcat.
The show follows Ritter as she rebuilds her life after quitting her job as a superhero and will be dovetailed into a Defenders miniseries featuring the likes of Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Colter’s Cage.
Taylor is probably familiar to most from her work in TRANSFORMERS and Grey’s Anatomy, though she is also a prolific topliner in a string of series that only got one shot, such as the rebooted Charlies Angels, 666 Park Avenue and most recently Crisis with Gillian Anderson. The TV fairy is clearly hovering again, so let’s hope this latest project will give her a hit – shouldn’t be a problem with the Marvel brand and an exciting line up of names attached.
The thirteen-parter arrives later this year.
