Legendary director of classic film such as THE EXORCIST and THE FRENCH CONNECTION has revealed that his most recent film KILLER JOE and the much loved TO LIVE AND DIE IN L.A. are to be adapted for television.
With the recent success of FARGO, BATES MOTEL and HANNIBAL, it seems a wise decision to try to adapt more films into television series.
Friedkin mentioned that MGM want to develop a story similar to 1985s TO LIVE AND DIE IN L.A. and that he will get full approval on the story and may even be interested in directing the pilot.
Speaking of KILLER JOE, Friedkin says that too will be a different story and will be edgy like FARGO and will feature a character similar to Matthew McConaughey’s hitman detective from the original film.
It was also recently announced that the director is working on an untitled Mae West project with Bette Midler for HBO.
